Orania se jaarlikse Karnaval skop oor enkele dae af en een van die hoogtepunte is die Kaalvoetkonsert. Vrywilligers meld aan om, terwyl ’n liedjie speel, die sang te mimiek en ’n kort toneel daarmee saam uit te voer. ’n Paar jaar gelede is ’n middagvertoning ingestel, omdat die aandvertoning jaar na jaar uitverkoop. Die Kaalvoetkonsert samel ook geld in om projekte in Orania moontlik te maak. So is dit met behulp van die Kaalvoetkonsert dat ’n koeksister-monument opgerig is. Ook is die bekende mosaïekkunswerk by die Oraniatrappe op hierdie manier aangebring.
Lida Strydom reël al sedert die begin die Kaalvoetkonsert. Lida sê met vanjaar se konsert hoor Afrikaners die roepstem van vryheid. “Daarom is Kaalvoet vanjaar in die Afrikaner-stad. Maar, dis kompleks, met baie intriges, want dis Boeremense.”
Lida sê verder dat die Kaalvoetkonsert ’n deel is van inburgering in Orania. “Daar leer ou en nuwe Oraniërs mekaar op ’n unieke manier ken, en dit is vriendskappe wat jare hou.”
