Ongelukkig het Johan toe besluit om met sy besoek aan Orania enige moontlike indruk dat hy onpartydig teenoor die gemeenskap staan summier in die kiem te smoor.

Wat dr Dassie die meeste van Johan se bemestingswaardige uitlatings gepla het is dat hy reken dat die inwoners van Orania te arm is om in Australië te bly. As hy maar net weet hoeveel Oraniërs oor die laaste paar jare hulle oorsese tuistes gegroet het om in Orania te kom nes skrop. Nie dat dr Dassie reken Johan is iemand wat hom vreeslik aan feite steur nie.
